about

This album is the final product of Ripples and Roots: Rushmoor Stories, a collaboration between the London Sinfonietta and electronic musician Scanner creating an original piece of new music inspired by the stories and musical memories of Rushmoor residents.

The project was commissioned and funded by New Dimensions, a Hampshire-based initiative which seeks new ways of involving people in music.

--------

Contemporary music ensemble London Sinfonietta and electronic musician Scanner collaborated to create this new piece of music, inspired by Rushmoor residents. Working in partnership with the West End Centre, Aldershot, the new piece emerged out of conversations and sessions with the Senior Moments local retirement group, and the Nepalese Dance Group.

Scanner, who composed and arranged the music, said ‘The sessions were conducted with musicians from the London Sinfonietta in response to the local communities we met, drawing influence from all manner of stories, memories, Nepalese dancing and singing and even easy listening music. Using these resources I’ve composed a new work that reimagines these very varied connections into a work that attempts to join the dots in a playful but emotive manner.’
