about

This is the debut collaboration between celebrated British electronic artist Robin Rimbaud - Scanner and Croydon-born, LA-based producer David Harrow, in a dubbed out ambient release.

Rimbaud and Harrow first met in the mid 1980s in South London, but it's taken over 30 years for them to finally unite forces for their South London Originals EP.

Featuring four tracks recorded remotely, Rimbaud in the UK, Harrow in LA, the pieces connect their long friendship, offering up a warmly organic warped package of new music.

'Dufire' introduces us to a seductive, playful fractured melody wrapped around a slippery bass line, whilst 'Happy Again, Happy' presents a female vocal hovering over a propulsive beat, with an edge of Ibiza seduction.

'Leave Me, Me Leave' is hollowed out, ever-disintegrating shell of harmonies glued to a pulsing synth, shadowing that classic Basic Channel sound. The EP closes with the dreamy and cinematic 'Found Again, Not Again Found,' featuring Rimbaud playing an almost naive piano melody across a fluttering beat.

David has worked extensively with Alex Patterson of The Orb, as well as writing Gary Clail’s two big hits, ‘Human Nature (Bad Natured)’ and ‘Who Pays the Piper,' and written, recorded and co-produced tracks for artists such as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Bim Sherman and Mark Stewart.

Since 1991 Scanner Robin has released albums ranging from ambient electronic music through to touring the music of Joy Division with a full orchestra. His vast body of work connects a bewilderingly diverse array of genres, from scoring The Big Dance for 1000 dancers in Trafalgar Square London for the Olympics, creating permanent soundtracks in a London house, Riga Airport and a working morgue in Paris, to scoring the world’s first VR ballet with Dutch National Ballet.

South London Originals features four tracks which move across a warm sonic landscape, offering up an organic and warm atmosphere.
